Classes and Courses
We cater to a diverse range of age groups with our classes, including baby swimming, toddlers swimming, pre-school, and prenatal classes. Our Starswimmers method utilises a progressive approach, where little swimmers will first master lower levels before moving on to higher ones.
Our classes run on a term basis, with a duration of 12 weeks, during which we focus on developing age and ability-appropriate skills. To ensure that every student receives ample individual attention, we keep our group classes small, with a maximum of six students. For those seeking a more personalized experience, we also offer 1:1 and 2:1 classes.
Baby swimming
We believe in starting early, and our youngest learners can begin as early as 2 months old. With a gentle approach, we introduce both parent and child to the joys of the water while prioritizing safety, happiness, and learning.
Our lessons follow a structured framework, where every week we review previously learned skills while progressively introducing new ones.
Our baby levels, nicknamed “Ducklings,” offer a fun and nurturing environment for the little ones to thrive in. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to witness your baby’s progression in the pool.
Duckling I
Our introductory level is tailored to babies who have not had previous swimming classes. With a focus on developing fundamental swimming positions, we introduce gentle underwater swims and teach breathing control.
Duckling II
This level is specifically designed for babies who have completed our Duckling 1 or have mastered breathing control. Here we focus on imparting the fundamentals of water safety, while building upon previous skills. Our expert instructors guide our little ducklings through essential techniques such as belly flops, turns, and side holding, all while maintaining a safe and nurturing environment.
Duckling III
Now we begin to witness the fruits of our little swimmers’ hard work. Some of our little swimmers can confidently perform full turns underwater and master holding onto the edge of the pool. We also introduce an essential safety skill, which is rolling over from front to back for breathing. Our expert instructors provide a supportive and structured learning environment, allowing our little swimmers to thrive and develop their skills further.
Duckling IV
Our final level in the baby swimming series is designed to help our little ones transition to short independent swims with the guidance and support from parents and instructors. We emphasize the importance of safety skills, including turning or rolling to breathe followed by swimming back to safety.
Toddler swimming
Once your little swimmer can walk independently, we welcome them into our Toddler classes, which we call the Penguin classes. Here, we continue to build upon the foundational skills learned in our Baby classes, while placing a greater emphasis on developing a strong foundation for front and back strokes. Safety remains our top priority, and our expert instructors provide a supportive environment for toddlers to learn and grow. Our Toddler or Penguin series consists of six levels, each designed to meet the unique needs and abilities of our students.
Penguin I
Our Toddler beginner level is specially designed for those new to swimming, including those who have not completed the Baby swimming series with Starswimmers or who have no prior swimming experience. With a gentle start tailored to the needs of each individual student, our expert instructors help little ones build water confidence and develop the foundational skills necessary for swimming success. As our classes progress, we gradually introduce new techniques and challenges to further enhance skills and abilities. We believe it’s never too late to start to learn swimming.
Penguin II, III and IV
These levels are specifically crafted for young swimmers who have successfully completed the Duckling 4 or Penguin 1 stages. By this level, our little aquatic enthusiasts are happy and confident submarines. Each level we introduce a variety of skills, but with a shared goal of swimming independently for a short distance, while emphasising water safety drills and rules. Rest assured – we´ll make the process enjoyable for all!
Penguin V and VI
The advanced toddler classes are intended for children who have successfully completed the intermediate levels of Penguin 2, 3 and 4. At this stage, children should have the ability to enter and exit the pool independently, and swim short distances unassisted. We gradually introduce foundational stroke techniques, such as floating and arm and leg movements, while continuing to emphasize water safety. This is the final level where parents are in the water, so make the most of this special time.
Pre- school
Our Pre-school swimming series is tailored for children aged over three, with parents out of the water. Building on the foundations of our Babies and Toddler classes, we now slightly change our focus from water safety to swimming with beautiful technique and style. Starting with front and backstroke, our swimmers progress to mastering breaststroke as they move through the four levels of the Pre-school series, which we call our Shark series.
Shark I
This level is specifically designed for novice swimmers, and we take a gentle approach to the learning process. Our focus is to establish trust with our young swimmers and gradually build their confidence in the water. We introduce essential skills such as submersion, floating, and water safety to ensure a strong foundation for future progress.
Shark II
The next level in our swimming program is intended for children over three years old who have successfully completed the Penguin series or Shark 1. These little swimmers are confident in submerging and can float on their own or with assistance, both on their front and back. In this level, we emphasize on correct body positioning and kicking technique.
Shark III
This level is tailored for children who are over the age of three and have already mastered a good body position while being able to kick both on their front and back unaided. At this stage, our focus shifts towards honing the correct arm movements and breathing techniques, ensuring a well rounded and confident swimmer.
1:1 and 2:1 Classes
If group lessons aren’t your preference, we also offer the option of 1:1 or 2:1 classes. These classes are more closely tailored to your specific needs and allow for maximum progress at your own pace.
Alternatively, if you have a friend or family member who is a good match, you can choose to swim together in a 2:1 class.
